CYBERAMP 380, COPYRIGHT MARCH 2002, AXON INSTRUMENTS, INC.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The CyberAmp 380 programmable transducer amplifier can amplify, filter, offset and AC couple
signals on eight independent channels. There are no front-panel controls for the signal conditioning
pathway because the instrument is intended as the front-end signal conditioner in a computer data
acquisition system. The CyberAmp is controlled by a host computer communicating over a serial
port. With its host computer, the CyberAmp is also a versatile front end to a chart recorder or tape
recorder.
In addition to the signal conditioning pathways, there is an audio monitor that is manually controlled
with front-panel knobs and switches. The audio monitor cannot be controlled by the host computer.
Channel Features
Each of the eight signal conditioning channels has the independently-controlled features described in
this section and shown in Figure 2.
1)
Differential inputs.
The amplified signal is the difference between the signals on the positive
and the negative inputs.
2)
Selectable input coupling.
The positive and the negative inputs can be independently set to
one of the following couplings:
DC Input signals are directly connected.
GND The input is grounded; input signals are ignored.
AC @ 0.1 Hz High-pass filtered at 0.1 Hz.
AC @ 1 Hz High-pass filtered at 1 Hz.
AC @ 10 Hz High-pass filtered at 10 Hz.
AC @ 30 Hz High-pass filtered at 30 Hz.
AC @ 100 Hz High-pass filtered at 100 Hz.
AC @ 300 Hz High-pass filtered at 300 Hz.
3)
Low-pass filter.
A fourth-order (also known as 4-pole, 24 dB/octave or 80 dB/decade) low-
pass Bessel filter on each channel can be set to the following -3 dB frequencies (in Hertz):

4 40 400 4 k
6 60 600 6 k
8 80 800 8 k
10 100 1,000 10 k
